Dog Mountian

Dog Mountian Washington. I don't know why its called Dog Mountian. There are a lot of dogs on the trail. You work like a dog going up and down the trail! Whatever the reason, Piper, mama and dada took the Monday after Mother's Day to take on the 7.5 mile vertical hike for the spoils of victory upon completion, which of course the view!!!!

Mama says it should be renamed mule mountian, because mama felt like a pack mule the whole trip. Poor mama and dada. Piper got the sweet treat of riding in the hiking pack that sat uptop mama's back. Pretty much the whole way up and down. Piper did take a few opportunities to run up some of the steep hills and had more fun sliding down them on the way back.

Once we *finally* made it to the top, we enjoyed every minute as we made ourselves a nice picnic amoung the flowers and looked out around us, catching glimses of Mt. Hood and Mt. St.Helens and the Columbia river which surrounded us below.

Piper loved walking in the flowers and watching all the butterflies.

We made it home in one piece, but mama and dada are sore and tired. Piper was of course ready for more play. "why you all so tired? I am so ready to play, i got tons of energy!!!!"

Sprinkler weather

Piper was introduced to the fine art of jumping in the sprinklers this past Monday when it was a nice 79 degrees in stumptown.

She really loved hopping around in the cold water and dodging the oncoming sprinkler dousing while wearing her new minnie mouse swimsuit.

We are looking forward to more fun hot days this summer filled with sprinkler fun.

Best Friends

Piper visits her best friend Grace for a day of fun play. Running, jumping, dancing, peek-a-poo! The girls talked and laughed and were silly the whole morning. It is so much fun to watch these two grow up together. Grace has a baby brother on the way-any day now and we know she will make a fantastic big sister. I am sure Piper will enjoy visits to help Jen with the new baby and to keep Grace company during the transition.

Here the girls pose for the camera with hugs and giggles!

it's house party time!!!

Today was a special day for Piper. We were lucky enough to get into the sold out DAN ZANES and FRIENDS show at the Aladdin Theatre. Piper wasn't quite sure what to make out of the long line to get into the door that spanned the entire block and around the corner until we saw Dan Zanes and Friends strumming their mandolins and make their way inside. Once inside we quickly made our way to the front and got ready for some fun dancing. Piper watched the first part of the show on top of dada and mama shoulders, but once 'Catch that train' started she jumped down and started to boogie down.

Piper and Mama in front of the Aladdin marque in line to get in.

Dan Zanes and Friends come walkin up the sidewalk-mandolins in hand singing and smiling on the way inside the venue. How perfect it was that we were finally near the door when he walked up. yipee

The band having fun!

We stayed afterwards to get a poster signed by Dan and to get a quick picture with him. Piper was pretty tuckered out at this point, so she didn't cheese up for the picture. But we thanked him for a good time-and can't wait for when he returns to Portland.

woohoo. house party time!

Piper meets Dan Zanes. She is a little tired to be as excited as mama was though.

Bunny Day

Piper gets a dose of holiday this weekend by searching for eggs we painted on Saturday and finding a basket full of fun toys to play with. No sugar for this monkey...or bunny rather. While all the other kids are getting hopped up on chocolate eggs, Piper makes out like a bandit with safari animal view master disks, bubbles and some nail polish and lip gloss.

Piper searchs for her basket the spring bunny left her this weekend. Complete with Bunny ears!!she finds her basket of toys left by peter cottontail.

We make best of the 20 minutes of sun on Sunday and searched for eggs bright and early.

Nana visits

Nana Julie flies in from Arizona to visit with Piper and take massage classes with mama. Piper enjoys a few days with Nana alone, playing in the backyard and playing with her safari animals. She really had fun showing off her dancing skills all week and watching Peter Pan. Her new favorite.

Piper and Nana play with our neighbors orange cat.

piper shows off her new Minnie Mouse swimsuit that nana got for her. She can't wait to get into the pool this summer and have fun.

Spring time

Grandma and Grandpa Zurbano stayed for a week and Piper was so excited. They had lots of fun going to OMSI, the mall, playing outside. And Piper now calls them Trama and Trampa. It's super cute.

And of course Spring is upon us, the equinox is almost here and Piper enjoys the weekend helping mama, daddy and trampa to weed the garden and do some yard work and play amoungst the daffodils.

Daffy-down-dilly is new come to town,
With a petticoat green, and a bright yellow gown,
And her white blossoms are peeping around.

having fun

Piper has been having lots of fun these days. Daddy got a new video game and Piper loves to play the guitar along side daddy and rock out.

Daddy and Piper also made way over to the Children's Museum for a day of fun a few weeks ago. Piper had fun with the new dentist exhibit and office.

Piper is getting her groove on totally rocking out with daddy. They are playing Guitar Hero 2.
Piper does some photo work for a friends movie. She isn't looking very excited right now however.
Mama fell in love with this Peter Pan kids table that Jen and Grace had. We were lucky enough to find one on Craigslist. This is of course THE spot for a spot of tea. Here Piper pours some tea for Marty the cow, kitty and Charlie the dog.
Piper and daddy went to the Children's Museum a few weeks ago. Piper had fun cleaning the crocodiles teeth. She was sure to tell him to brush good and floss. Good girl!

Here Piper takes some important calls.

BABY LOVES DISCO

Mama and Papa and Piper headed down to the Crystal Ballroom for "Baby Loves Disco", an event that is sweeping the nation. An afternoon of disco music spun by the 94.7 DJ's that do a weekly kids show on the radio called"Greasy Kids Stuff". There were bubble machines and tents and games, shakers and lots of organic food. Beer flowed for the parents as well.

We were all overwhelmed. There were so many kids and parents. Piper had a blast dancing and playing and going up and down all the stairs and of course getting her picture taken-such the ham.

We even got interviewed by OPB about the fun event. while a bit on the pricey side, it was well worth it. This will be a monthly event that we will be sure to go to again.

Piper was having fun posing for the camera to update her extrasonly portfolio. This one was too cute to pass up for posting and boosting!

My silly girl-getting bigger and smarter by the hour.

Piper has McKenna over to play

Piper got quite the treat last Thursday when her friend McKenna came over to play for the day. McKenna and Piper are almost 1.5 years apart, but are the same height and shoe size. Piper is a small girl for her age.
They had so much fun together and Piper was quite the mother hen looking after McKenna and sharing her toys.

Piper and McKenna enjoy the day by reading a few good books!
Piper has fun teaching McKenna how to drum on mama's drum

Piper and McKenna play with Dora the Explorer sit and spin and share a kodak moment.

"and you put the money in the pig right here! good job"

Time for McKenna to go home. Hugs and kisses goodbye until next time.
